Sue Hankerd , DVM
Dr. Sue Hankerd grew up in southern Michigan. She went to Michigan State University for her bachelor's degree and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Iowa State University in 1993. Dr. Hankerd worked at Auburn Animal Hospital during her time at veterinary school and purchased the clinic in August, 2001..
She currently lives in White Lake, Michigan, with her two children, Claire and Kyle. Claire is in 11th grade and Kyle is in 9th. She has a Yorkie (Annabelle) and two cats (Steve and Chupy).
Being a veterinarian was always Dr. Hankerd's dream. She loves working with the animals and enjoys getting to know her clients and their pets, It is a very rewarding profession and there is nothing that she would rather be doing.
Dr. Hankerd belongs to the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Michigan Veterinary Association.
She likes to ride her bike with her kids during her spare time. She also likes gardening, cooking and spending time outdoors.
Cindy Kalicki , DVM
Dr. Cindy Kalicki graduated from Michigan State University in 1994. After practicing full time at a veterinary facility for 9 years, she ventured into the exciting world of relief work. Not only does relief work keep her mind challenged, she gets to learn many different techniques unique to different practices and gets the opportunity to meet many new clients and their pets. Even though she goes to many practices, Dr. Kalicki has been a member of the Auburn Animal Hospital family since 2003, coming in once weekly.
Dr. Kalicki has her own critter family, consisting of two cats (Isaiah and Itty Bitty) and one dog (Daisy). She loves horses (hoping to get one again) and cowboys, and she reads non-stop during her spare time.
Susan Spitsen, LVT, Office Manager
Susan has worked at Auburn Animal Hospital since 1997. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at Macomb Community College that same year. She worked as a technician full time until 2008, then moved into the position of Office Manager.
Susan has been married to her husband, Dave, since 1993. They have 2 children, David, Jr., and Taylor. They have 2 dogs (Coal and Buck), and 4 cats (Dorito, Marcus, Cowboy and Dennis). Dorito likes to hang out at the clinic.
Susan loves to spend time with her family, walk her dogs, ride bikes, and read.
Julie Diz, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Julie received her Veterinary Technician license in September, 2011, after graduating from Macomb Community College in May, 2011. She has been working with animals for about 12 years. Her passion for animals is what led her to seek a career in the veterinary field. She loves helping animals in need while also educating the community.
Julie has her own dog and a cat. Brandi is a Black Lab mix that she adopted a couple years ago. Her age is not known but she loves sleeping with Julie on the couch while watching TV. Scarlett is a gray Domestic Long Hair who Julie adopted last year. She is about 12 years old and loves Julie's husband, David.
On her own time Julie loves reading books, singing karaoke, and spending time with friends and family.
Barbara Patch, Receptionist
Barb loves working at Auburn Animal Hospital and has been here 8 years. She lives in Shelby Township with her husband and their cats, Rupert and Bleu..
Outside of work Barb is very involved in her church and loves to quilt, sew, scrapbook, sing and play piano, ride bikes with her husband and spend lots of time with her family.
Krystle Behring, Veterinary Technicican Assistant
Krystle is currently attending Oakland University and will graduate from there in June. She has always loved animals and is excited to be able to work with them here at Auburn Animal Hospital. She has three Shih Tzus--Teddy, Lacey Mae, and Fergie.
In her spare time she likes spending time with her friends and family and traveling.
Carol Paisley, Receptionist
Carol has been with us since September, 2014. She loves animals and currently has five cats. Leo and Lily are 8 years old, Sweety is 2; Stubbs and Caroline are 5 months old.
In her free time, Carol loves to spend time with her grandson, or you may find her curled up with a good book, with her cats curled up around her and with her husband of 32 years.
